Guest Posting: Monk in the World

One of my favorite online spiritual resources is Christine Valters Paintner’s site, the Abbey of the Arts.  I was drawn in several years ago by her free e-course called “Monk in the World.”  A series of daily emails invited reflection on each of the commitments she has identified as defining monastic practice in ordinary life: silence and solitude, hospitality, community, kinship with creation, work, Sabbath, conversion, and creative joy.  These ideas continue to find resonance for me as a kind of infrastructure or template for processing daily experience, and I’m delighted to have a guest post at the Abbey blog today.
